Sharing data access with other Paradox applications

Traditionally the key to shared data access by more Paradox applications is in the common NET-file and it's NET-file directory set by the local BDE Administrator and the setting for this stored on the local hard-drive.

Although the setting may point to a file server location of this NET-file, accessing the same data from more client PCs, this demands a very specific and impractically sensitive coordination of the setting stored locally on each accessing client PC.

For this reason the PdxEditor is equipped with the at any time selectable NET-file directory pointer to comply with any application pointing to any location of a shared NET-file except for locations locally on some distant PC not visible from the current PC.

As many applications, including those working solely with local data, often do rely on the default NET-file directory location, you may need to set the PdxEditor NET-file directory pointer to the BDE's setting for the default NET-file directory to enable data access shared with other applications.

BDE Admin, System setting: LocalShare = True
is relevant only, if the BDE is to share access with non-BDE applications.
Default setting (paradox BDE applications only) is:
BDE Admin, System setting: LocalShare = False

Please see Paradox NET-file directory and Paradox Locks.
