Associating Paradox .DB or dBASE .DBF files to PdxEditor

As PdxEditor does not use a regular installation procedure, the Paradox and dBASE table files are not automatically associated to the PdxEditor.

To enable automatic launch by the PdxEditor when double clicking any of the Paradox/dBASE table files in the Windows file explorer, you may from any current location of the PdxEditor associate the Paradox and/or dBASE table file type(s) to the PdxEditor at it's current exe file location using the Register procedure from the PdxEditor Admin menu.
File associations are based on the file name extentions (*.db and *.dbf).

Table-icons
Registering applies distinct table icons as visible in the Windows Explorer.

Registering is limited to the user doing the registering not affecting any other Windows user accounts.

As registering the file associations are stored in the Windows system of the local PC (or on a LAN via the roving profile, if enabled), the PdxEditor's registering/un-registering is designed not to be available, when the PdxEditor is on a removable device.

Cautions

You may be careful calling this feature, if these files are already registered to some other installed Paradox or dBASE database management application depending on this registered association. However, if not launching document/data files from the Windows Explorer, other applications will not bother about the PdxEditor document/data file association.

Care must be taken, as file extentions have never been restricted to specific file types - thus *.db and *.dbf may also be used by other completetly different file types.

Ultimately, registration to PdxEditor may be lifted at any time if necessary.
