Selecting or toggling the menu [Memo: Display Leading Text in the DBGrid] will show leading parts of the Memo-text in each cell with a number of characters a specified in the INI-file, and presenting as e.g.:

If the length of the Memo-text exceeds the chosen number of characters, the displayed text will present with trailing elipses.
Selecting/deselecting this feature, for most cases will auto-refresh the display to reflect your selection.
However, this is not the case, if the underlying SQL includes datamodifying procedures, as an auto-refresh would also re-execute these data modifying commands - see also SQL Execution.
