Language drivers for dBASE, Paradox and FoxPro tables

Any BDE table will have it's own language driver embedded into each table, that will follow each table lifelong if not deliberately changed and ensures correct character displays independent of the individual computer.
This applies to tables used within regions or groups of countries having the same available Windows character set, for example within the Western World Latin letter languages using the common Windows-1252 character set, or in countries having e.g. the Cyrillic alphabet in common.

For new tables, check the default applied driver in the BDE Administrator settings - see BDE and Windows settings.
Before filling a table with data, the language driver may be liberally altered of choice.

For existing tables, as a general rule, leave the language driver as is.
The language driver of each table and your current Windows system settings usually will handle correct character handling together, even for tables created in the distant DOS era.
