Though exchanging exported data files only within ones local region, importing date values via a delimited text file usually succeeds, exchanging between users using different system setting and thus date formats dd-mm-yyyy, dd.mm.yyyy, mm/dd/yyyy, dd/mm-yyyy, or what ever, import may really be a challenge.
However, using the ISO yyyy-mm-dd format, most applications will read dates correctly irrespective of the current system date format setting.
Thus, selection to use the ISO data format is highly recommended.
