Compact Database

Compacting the database file

As with any database or data table successive insertions and deletions may leave fragmentation or empty spaces in the file structure still taking up file space making of growing file size irrespective of the real data contents.

This way the database size and working speed may benefit from of compacting now and then.

The compacting procedure will also perform datafile repairs if necessary.

It may be suggested to do a backup before doing a compact.
